Project schedule

The project will run over the summer and autumn of 2023. Most workshops will happen on Saturday afternoons. A few may take place on Saturday mornings.

The schedule is split into two halves. Each half will consist of four half-day workshops (each about 3 hours long), and a larger concluding event.

In the first half, the team will focus on researching the sporting lives and experiences of Black people and people of colour in the National Library of Scotland’s collections and beyond.

In the second half, the team will create responses and resources that will help tell the stories they have uncovered in the first half, and make them better known.

First Half

  • Workshop 1 : Saturday 15 July
  • Workshop 2 : Saturday 29 July (10.30 a.m., at the Scottish Football Museum, Hampden Park Stadium)
  • Workshop 3 : Saturday 12 August
  • Workshop 4 : Saturday 26 August
  • HALF-TIME event : Saturday 9 September

Second Half

  • Workshop 5 : Saturday 30 September
  • Workshop 6 : Saturday 14 October
  • Workshop 7 : Saturday 28 October (a.m., at the Scottish Football Museum)
  • Workshop 8 : Saturday 11 November
  • FINAL WHISTLE event : Saturday 2 December

What if I can’t go to every workshop? We know that life happens and people have holidays, so you don’t need to attend every workshop. You should be able to attend most of the workshops and the final Full Time event on 2 December.

How much will I be paid? For each workshop or event attended, each eligible team member will receive a grant of £45 to cover their time and travel expenses. Each workshop / event will last around 3 hours.
